Vane-nett – Do You Miss Opportunities?

Habits are not a bad thing. The bad thing is to get caught up in the habit of staying in it. When that happens, you may end up numbing yourself, not only emotionally but also intellectually. In addition, you may become anxious and learn to ignore a variety of opportunities for growth and change that arise.
Vane-nett - Do you miss opportunities?

The habit network is a trap. What this means is that habits have very subtle threads that give you support to begin with, but then they catch you and start restricting your movements. Of course  , over time, you have learned to balance the damage they cause, as well as the benefits they brought into your life. Thus, you have remained in this mode indefinitely.

The human brain is an incredible organ that was mainly created to create. This is because creation is basically the path that intelligence uses to solve problems. Mental faculties and the emotional world are at their maximum in light of difficulties.

Habits are a way of defining the scope of our experiences. One of the main functions of routines is to reduce the scope of daily challenges we have to deal with. It prevents us from thinking and feeling good, and we are driven by inertia.

It’s good that we do not have to think about everything we do. However, when you get to the point where you have decided everything in advance, you will first start to get bored, and then go into a depression.

As we mentioned above, our brain is made for problem solving and news. Thus, avoiding them will have intellectual and emotional consequences. So, how do you know if you are a slave to your habits? Keep the following in mind.

You spend more time on what is urgent than what is important

The word “urgent” implies duty. Habits often cause us to fill our lives with duties, but they are almost always about meeting the needs of others, not our own. Duties force us to act, and there are many types: work-related, academic, family-related, emotional, ideological, etc.

The most important thing here is to find out what really determines the well-being and satisfaction of your life. An example is to spend quality time with those we love. It can also be to reflect on something that bothers you or try to find out why you rarely set aside time for it.

You often think that you should settle down with what you have

When you are caught in the habit network, you may experience discomfort. You can get annoyed with routines even if they allow you to plan and organize everything.

Despite that, you make sure to silence the voice that tells you that something is wrong. Often you may end up saying to yourself that “things are as they are”, which is why you have to accept it and simply take care of it. You alone are the one who feels this conformity and, probably, the ideas and boundaries (such as “that’s what is most adult to do”) that are not always as reasonable as they may seem.

The habit network and the fear of taking risks

One of the most common side effects of habits is that they gradually scare you. You end up being afraid of everything that is unknown or everything that involves some kind of challenge, change or novelty, even without you realizing it.

Everything becomes automatic. Every time you confront a new situation, your alarms are triggered as if a threat were present. You do not approach change with enthusiasm and curiosity, but with vigilance and fear. You lose the openness to new experiences.

Indefinite delay because you do not get out of the habit-network

Sometimes you can long for something different even when you are caught in the habit net. You might think you could go further or feel alive if you did your thing. You just have to dare to change or try a new activity.

The problem is that you almost always end up setting aside both your dreams and your projects. You are always waiting for better conditions or for an opportunity to emerge or for things around you to get better. However, this will probably end up causing your dreams and desires to be set aside forever.

The lack of interest prevails

Boredom is one of the clear signs that you are trapped in the habit net. It emerges as a feeling that you are nothing interesting. Furthermore, there is nothing that makes you excited, and you have no passion for anything.

You are no longer alive. In places, your flat feelings prevail. Thus, without being fully aware of it, you begin to live as if you were just “making time go by.” You end up assuming that this condition is normal and logical even if it is not.

Habits are powerful forces. They are not negative in themselves, as they contribute to general stability. However, they become a web that drowns you when they take over your life. Do not give in to it. Start by making small changes such as taking a different path to work or eating something new. These are great ways to get out of the habit net.
